Lots of Late-Night Law Enforcement

A large show of force late last night downtown in New Haven, with no explanation in the mainstream news. It seemed as though it might have been in response to one or several disturbances, perhaps as a precautionary effort against rioting after the Trayvon Martin / George Zimmerman "Not Guilty" announcement. It looked as though there may have also been a DUI stop further down Chapel Street towards State, while Temple was blocked off from Chapel to Crown. Other parts of Crown Street may have also been shut off to traffic as well.

People around the country have responded to the verdict in a mostly peaceful way.  Oakland was said to have some disturbances in relation to the announcement, but the pacifist marches resulting have largely been against the prediction of many in the media, who anticipated riots in the event of a not guilty verdict.  Rallies are being planned around the country.
