People around the country have responded to the verdict in a mostly peaceful way. Oakland was said to have some disturbances in relation to the announcement, but the pacifist marches resulting have largely been against the prediction of many in the media, who anticipated riots in the event of a not guilty verdict. Rallies are being planned around the country.
